Equity and Diversity Series

The work of creating equity in our world is ongoing. It requires commitment from individuals, organizations, and communities. It calls each of us to be active learners, advocates, and change-makers.

We offer three workshops on equity, diversity, and inclusion topics to support your journey on these timely topics. Each one uses a heart-centered approach to create self-awareness, education, and exploration of key topics.

Deeper Dive

Workshop 1 of the Equity and Diversity Series

Deeper Dive is a free monthly equity, diversity, and inclusion course. The noontime event, offered online during COVID-19, includes time for learning, reflection, and discussion. Each quarter explores a different theme with a film or video, an educational presentation by an expert, and a book discussion over a three-month period.

Navigating Differences

Workshop 2 of the Equity and Diversity Series

Now more than ever, the conversation about race, bias, and equity is on the top of our minds. Many of us are ready to enter the conversation. We want to make a positive contribution. This online workshop offers learning, practice, and reflection to empower you to enter the conversation with confidence.

In this introductory online workshop, learn tools and skills to:

• Speak the language of equity and inclusion and understand its uses
• Explore common fears and questions that stop us from engaging
• Become aware of your biases, issues with rank, and fears
• Confidently and respectfully enter, engage, and add to the conversation

Bryon Lambert, La Clinica’s director of equity, diversity, and inclusion, is joined by certified coach Meg Mitchell and La Clinica’s Maria Ramos Underwood in facilitating this training opportunity.

Equity and Agility

Workshop 3 of the Equity and Diversity Series

Biases are patterns in the way we all take in information, especially about people we see as the same or different from us. They can shape how we interact with others. This workshop is a chance to become aware of these conscious or unconscious patterns. As we notice them, we can transform them in positive ways that acknowledge differences and create connection instead of separation.

Participants engage in individual and group experiences designed to prompt self-reflection, awareness, discussion, and personal accountability. The learning in this equity and inclusion training aims to inspire action in participants’ lives.

You’ll learn and practice:

• Understanding your relationship with equity, power, rank, discomfort, and ambiguity
• Seeing and working with bias using three resources you always have
• Communicating and acknowledging differences with ownership and accountability
• Turning common communication pitfalls to opportunities to listen and connect
• Asking for, getting, and giving feedback (and how to handle inevitable mistakes!)
• Influencing and engaging with people, organizations, and communities
• Building resilience in yourself and others
• Inspiring your continued learning
